Post 1: Today's Evangelism Experience
Today's evangelism left a bitter-sweet taste in my mouth.
And guess what? It's because of a certain country named, Nigeria π. I will explain why. But let's start from scratch.
Wednesday The 9th, March 2022:
By 3:30pm I had put a pause on my design, ready to go out on evangelism. I left my house and I was ready to engage the school kids that pass by on my street, since 4pm is the usual time they start passing by after closing.
But first, I had to pray. Prayed about 30 mins, then left the house. (Note: Pray longer. I only prayed 30 mins because I had already prayed twice today).
- Number 1:
Anywho so I left the house, saw these teens wearing a blue uniform (there were about 9 of them), so I spoke to them.
...
Chai! My life, A WHOLE ME. They ignored my life ππ
Ah π
(So like how I decided to do it for the school teens is, I'd introduce myself, show them a paper with "Your sins are forgiven", "God is not angry with you", or "God cares for you", written on it. I have about 4 of them), so I did that.
Said, "Hi guys, my name is Tofunwa, do you guys want to look at this for a minute? They all gathered round. They read, some didn't even read, they said, "Ok", and most of them continued to walk away. Yeee ππ
Well, it wasn't all that bad. Two of them decided to stay back and listen, then we walked together as I spoke to them about Jesus. But then,
One had already approached her house, and the other guy after that one left, said, "Let's continue next time", and started to walk away. πͺ
Perhaps how I started the conversation wasn't so captivating then. Oh well, will do better next time.
- Number 2:
So then! The next set. Now this was good. Saw these two guys (probably about 15 yrs) walking, and decided to engage them with the gospel. They listened attentively!
And they thoroughly enjoyed it. We exchanged contacts, and I will be following up with them soon!
Now I know you obviously want to hear how it happened. BUT, I will use this to talk about how I evangelise, in possibly my next post. Also, there was a word of knowledge in there,
I saw that one of the boys' name looked something like Abijah, or Salami, that's what I saw in my mind (that's how a word of knowledge comes). But it wasn't fully clear.
Anywho, guess what his name was? Abdul-Salam.
So it wasn't perfect. But there was progress.
Now then, on to the one which broke my heart.
- Number 3:
As I was walking back from talking to Victor and Abdul-Salam, I saw these two school girls (they actually wore the same uniform as the first people that ignored me now that I think about it);
It just came to me that, "It would be nice if these girls got to hear the gospel", and so I turned back, and decided to talk to them.
They had already gone a bit far, so I kinda had to follow them. (It's for the gospel). So anywho I caught up, and one of them looked back, and so I said, "Hi would you guys like to look at this? (showing them my paper with "God cares for you" written on it),
then as they looked at me, they looked at each other, and they started to walk away very quickly.
It was sad. Now you see the fact that they ignored me in itself wasn't sad, but the fact that I know why they ignored me:
They were scared. It's normal, a random guy walks up to you and says you guys should look at this paper? IN THIS COUNTRY??
Nahh, you pick race. And I get. So that's what broke my heart, the fact that so many bad things happen in this country and people are used to it that any sign of weirdness is met with instant FEAR.
Nah, it breaks my heart. So I left there feeling dejected, sad, and pained.
Also, realizing I must've looked pretty awkward didn't help any matters.
πͺ, Anyways, we go again tomorrow or the next ✊πΌπ₯³
Stay tuned. Bye bye.
The country we live in π€¦π€¦

7You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.
